Sharkey Transportation, Inc., began operations in May of 1971 in Illinois (intrastate and interstate), Iowa, Missouri, and Wisconsin.

Operating authority has been expanded by acquisition and by granting of authority by proof of public need. The grant under MC-135598 Sub 61 authorized operation as a common carrier transporting general commodities over irregular routes between points in the contiguous 48 states. We have been granted contract carrier authority under MC-135598 Sub 71. Contracts have been signed with the majority of our customers.

Our general offices are located in Quincy, Illinois, along with maintenance and warehouse facilities. STI has established cartage agents in several cities and has terminals and trailer pools strategically located throughout the continental United States.

Sharkey's growth results from a reputation for good, dependable service at a reasonable cost. The central dispatch office in Quincy directs all operations through the use of mobile communications and on-board computers, and also a live on-line computer dispatch system which allows immediate location of equipment.

Company owned equipment is operated by our employees. We have an extensive fleet of tractors and trailers.

All of our tariff publications are individual and allow for innovative and competitive pricing structures. In addition, we have expanded our contract carriage authority extensively to allow for more flexibility in an ever-changing transportation environment.
