May 1, 1971, Jack Sharkey founded Sharkey Transportation, Inc. in Quincy, Illinois with a four state authority, six trucks, and eighteen trailers. In the beginning, we served six customers. We are proud to say those same six firms are still among the more than 3,000 customers we serve today. Over 50 years have passed and our company, list of services, and service area, have continued to grow. Thanks to our many talented employees who contributed to our success throughout the years, we now operate our fleet in 48 states.
Today, Sharkey Transportation, Inc. provides leasing, drop lot management, shipping office services, and warehousing. Our extensive terminal network has grown to over 14 full service facilities strategically positioned throughout our service areas, and we now have over one million square feet of warehousing space available. We keep growing, but our focus continues to live through our motto of “Success Through Service”.
